A handleless kitchen has no handles on the doors. Instead, you open each door or drawer with a recessed grip, a shaped edge or a gentle push. The result is a clean run of fronts that suits contemporary homes and open-plan spaces.

German manufacturers have been refining handleless systems for decades. next125 in particular is known for precise handleless design, built on its 125 mm grid.

Handleless suits more homes than people expect. In warm timbers or soft colours it feels calm rather than clinical.

Three ways to open a handleless kitchen.

    Rail or channelA recessed aluminium channel runs along the cabinet below the worktop and between drawers. Easy to grip and very durable.
  • 02
    J-pullThe top edge of each door is shaped into a lip you hook your fingers behind. No channel in the cabinet.
  • 03
    Push-to-openA gentle press opens the door or drawer. Completely flush, often combined with rails elsewhere.
  • 04
    Mix and matchMany kitchens combine rails on base units with push-to-open on tall units for the cleanest look.

What is a handleless kitchen?

A kitchen with no visible handles. Doors and drawers open using a recessed rail, a shaped J-pull edge or a push-to-open mechanism.

Which handleless system is best?

Rail systems are the easiest to use and the most durable. J-pull gives a cleaner cabinet without a channel. Push-to-open is completely flush. Many kitchens combine them.

Are handleless kitchens practical?

Yes. With a good rail or J-pull system they are easy to open, and there are no handles to catch on clothing or hips.

Do handleless kitchens show fingerprints?

Some finishes do. Matt anti-fingerprint fronts are a good choice for handleless kitchens.
